It's time to launch your Second Generation Site. Let's make it happen for real this time -Contact Me Here.
Is now the time to launch your second generation site?
Are you asking whether you even need one?
Having taken stock of the original cost, ongoing costs (updates and hosting fees), traffic reports, sales, ROI and real honest to goodness value, some businesses are beginning to turn their back on the Internet.
Are you one of those people? The Internet bubble burst several years ago and many businesses are now starting to question the wisdom of ever bothering with their website in the first place.
I've come to realise that the reason for this is far too many commercial sites lacked direction, and, perhaps more importantly, someone who knew what they were doing to show the way forward. We could blame the Web site designers who were too young and inexperienced or were much more interested in quick money than creating anything worthy and valuable. But some of the failure must lie with site owners who relied too heavily on their Web designers and shyed away from any real input, either because it was normal practice to out-source labour for a specialist job, or because, as is still often heard now, "that's out of my league. I just let 'em get on with it". Nobody in the real business world would have ever made those lax decisions in the past and expected to get away with it, yet everyone thought the Internet was going to be different. Hopefully we have all learned a valuable lesson!
Well the dot com crashes served us all right, and were a good thing, because it made us take note and re-evaluate what it was about the Internet that made it such a good way of communicating with customers if enough thought was put into making it work.
In the early days many businesses were "forced" by the pressure of technology, the threat that the competition would get there first, and the fear of being left behind, to spend lots of money on a Web site that was ill-conceived, unprofessional in appearance, design and usefulness, and created in such a hurry that many are of little use to the owner or user. Many are so bad that they actually hurt the business being promoted and are better off taken down.
Many now lie abandoned, swelling the internet with useless out-of-date information. A pile of bytes that don't add up to a hill-o-beans.
Most were sold on the basis that you just had to have a Web site, at any cost, not that it would be a useful business tool and, god forbid, make you any money.
If you are a Web site owner and identify with any of this, then just possibly you could have come to the right place. We Need To Talk!!
Perhaps the most overlooked aspect of Web development is the planning process.
My philosophy of site production is to create something around which your site visitors can use and identify with, doesn't cost a fortune, demonstrates your products in a way that benefits the customer and gives you the best chance to make the sale.
I offer a complete package from domain name purchase to end sales. From site updates to onsite training, and from full site consultation to after sales help, by phone or online.
For a Great Performance from a Great Performing Web Site. How our service sets about taking the drama out of Web site design and build.
I don't use templates and code mostly by hand so you have an absolutely clean canvas to start from.
Running your own business is too time consuming for taking on the nitty gritty of design and optimization. But it's worth spending some constructive time on it. You have full consultation in the design process at all levels.
I can organise domain name purchasing and hosting (for new sites) and help you choose a domain name that is just right for your business.
Why is this aspect important?
Many domain names have been sold that bear no resemblance to the actual business or persons operating a Web site with it. Domain name brainstorming, decision and purchase is the single best first step toward getting yourself noticed by the search engines and ranked as highly as possible.
For example, two shops in the High street sell the same product. The signs above the door read; 1. Brilliant Widgets Retail Outlet. and 2. BWRO & sons.
They both buy domain names and build sites around their business models, respectively; 1. www.brilliantwidgets.com and 2. www.BWRO.com
Which would you immediately identify as selling the item you need? Exactly, No.1, because BWRO tells you nothing about the business or what it does. The same basic business rules and decisions apply on the Internet as they do in the High street. If you are perceived as the expert and get noticed, it's you that'll make the sale. In fact, BWRO.com might have a better Web site and be cheaper, but Internet surfers will visit brilliantwidgets.com, FIRST, every time!
Beautifully optimized pages - at code and display level - that guarantee high visibility and good search engine placement.
This means search engines and directories will pick you up quickly, customers will be able to find you and your ranking will be justified by the high quality experience you provide for search requests that result in views.
Quality images that reflect your business, from originals that we take just for you. No gimmicky clipart and animations.
Site coding is back to basics, good old fashioned HTML (HyperText Mark-up Language) with sometimes a little JavaScript to improve or provide functionality. This works best for most commercial situations which rely on quick, reliable listings in search engines and steadfast browser rendering. Afterall, you can't buy it, if you can't see it!
A business header, banner or logo that helps to brand and promote your business and site.
Easy site navigation. This involves the use of clear links and/or buttons with an intuitive and predictable structure.
There's nothing worse than going down blind alleys with no way back to other areas of the site.
Full steam consultation and exploration about the best ways for your site to generate extra income.
We embark on intensive Keyword research and site optimization to ensure your site is ranked well for the keywords and keyphrases you choose to build your online name recognition and credibility.
Next we hand submit the site to all the major search engines. This approach has proved many, many times more effective than relying on automated submission, despite what you've heard to the contrary.
Many search engines and directories now require you to include an infinitely refreshed code which has to be entered at the time of submission. For this reason, these search engines actually take your submission far more seriously. We don't use automated software that sends to hundreds or thousands of free-for-all pages. This activity can get you banned nowadays!
Finally, when the site goes live and everything is working like a dream, one-to-one training gives you step-by-step guidance on how to do updates and make other changes.
This is included (if you want to do your own maintenance and updates) to ensure that your ongoing costs are kept to a minimum and under control. Site updates are important and keep your web presence alive. I also show you how to submit any new pages you create to the
search engines. However, if you get stuck or encounter any other problems, help is only an email or a phone call away.
Obviously I need to cover my expenses and charge market rates, but I still come within the budget of most small business sites. Design work is both exciting and fun and is the reason I'm happy to go the extra mile to make a project as special as it can be. Perhaps that's one of the reasons I can afford to work within the budget of smaller companies and nonprofits. Please Contact me if I can be of assistance in this regard.
